So, I’m on my hols in France at mo, which gives me the perfect oportunity to practice my somewhat shoddy swimming.
Actually, it’s not really that shoddy anymore.
You see, about a year ago my Uncle and I were talking about fitness and he mentioned he’d be doing a spot of swimming to keep himself in shape.
At the time, my swimming was proper shoddy…so I’d never really used swimming as a fitness tool.
But, he recommended I check out a guy called Terry Laughlin.
He’s what you might call a swimming guru.
So I did.
I started looking at his stuff called “Total Immersion” and bought one of his DVD’s.
Fast forward to now and I really enjoy swimming.
It’s a revelation.
I no longer swim like a cannonball and although I’m not the most graceful of swimmers (yet), I’m not doing too bad at this swimming lark.
Speaking of being graceful, this is one of the videos I found whilst looking for Terry’s stuff.
The guy in the pool is called Shinji Takeuchi.
Shinji didn’t start using this technique until he was 37 years old.
Just goes to show you that there’s hope for us all!
Here’s the video…
As I said earlier, my swimming was absolutely pants.
For someone who is fairly fit, I’d barely last 2 lengths of the pool before being completely out of breath.
My swimming has come on leaps and bounds since discovering this technique and it’s only going to get better.
So, whether you’re a seasoned swimmer or a total beginner, you can benefit from this.
And now, I’ve got another activity to help keep me lean and healthy…another skill to learn and master.
Here’s the website if you’re interested: http://totalimmersion.net/
But you can also find tons of stuff on good old YouTube too.
