I’ve been reading a great book recently by an american chap, Grant Cardone.
It’s called The 10X Rule.
There’s a lot of bizness chit-chat inside and Cardone is a bit full on at times, but he doesn’t mince his words and I’ve gotta say, it’s given me a bit of a wake up call.
Not just with my business, but all areas of my life. You see…
Much of what I’ve read so far can be applied to everyday life…even losing your belly chub.
The major premise is that to achieve extreme success with anything in life you need to change your thinking to 10X levels and follow up with 10X actions. But…
Here’s the problem.
Most peeps have been told to be realistic with their goals and wants for the future.
“Don’t set them too high, just in case you fail…you don’t want to be disappointed”.
“You can’t lose 20 pounds in a month, that’s not realistic.”
“You’ll never run a marathon…you can’t even run to the shops.”
“You could never be xyz.” So…
Instead of aiming high, we lower expectations and guess what?
The actions we take become much lower too and the results from those actions are at best – average :(
For example, let’s say you HAD to lose 20 pounds by this time next month.
Do you think your actions and effort level would be different than say, having to losing 7-8 pounds over the next month?
You’d have to up your game, right?
Will you lose 20 pounds? Maybe, maybe not…but even if you fall short, what are you going to be more happy with 16-17 pounds in a month or 7-8 pounds?
When you 10X your thinking it encourages you to 10X your actions. So…
Set yourself big ass goals. And…
Go after them with 100% commitment.
Sure, they’ll be ups and downs along the way, but that doesn’t mean you change the goal. Oh-no…
According to Cardone, you should NEVER make the goal easier.
Instead, when things aren’t going to plan…
Take MORE action.
Look at what else can you do to achieve your goals?
Simple, but effective advice :)
Here’s something else that Cardone talks about and I’ve mentioned a few times over the last couple of months too…
If you really want a flat belly you’ve gotta be slightly obsessed with that goal.
I know that’s not the thing to say in today’s society, as if being obsessed with your goals is somehow wrong. But…
If it’s something you truly want, like a flat belly, you’ve gotta be a little obsessed to dodge the weekly obstacle course of cakes, cookies, beers and wine.
No dilly-dallying with this goal.
No half measures.
Go all in and make it known at home and in the office that you won’t compromise on your goals.
When you look throughout history, you’ll find that extreme success was achieved when men and women set themselves huge goals and then chased those goals WITH 10X actions.
